Robin Hood done right…

Okay, first I am in love with Jonas Armstrong. He made the perfect Robin Hood. The best ever [At least in my humble opinion]. I don’t normally gush over actors or shows [besides farscape] but the first two seasons were so fantastic I couldn’t seem to do anything but watch. How do people wait an entire week for a new episode? Pure torture. I didn’t have to wait as this is an older series that was cut after it’s 3rd season.

The 3rd season was still good but I hated the ending [season two's ending as well] and Kate, a great actress but was not the replacement for Marian.  There’s nothing like the characters in this series–at least the first 2 seasons anyway.

Robin Hood begins with Robin and Much returning from the Holy Land. Much is his goofy servant turned free man [yet won't abandon Robin] pal. I loved Much’s character.

Then there’s Marian and Little John whom we all know.  Little John is the leader over a band of ‘criminals’ according to the Sheriff of Nottingham they’re to be put to death on the spot.  In this gang there’s Will. A quiet young man who has some pretty amazing skills.

Alan A Dale is what is known as the traitor. Robin saves him twice and Alan betrays him twice. Djaq is from the holy land and is a girl living in the forest with a band of robbers [was going to be a slave but RObin saved her ;o) ]

Even Richard Armitage is hot. He’s evil but wow look at him without his shirt on!!  I’ve put some pictures below for you.  I rate this series 3 out of 4 stars [only because of two disappointing endings]

Favorite TV Villains of all time

Sylar from Heroes

Sylar from Heroes

The best part of a date is when you get to scream and grab onto your boyfriend. He pretends that he hasn’t peed his pants and then casually wraps his arm around you with a smirk on his face. You smile and hide yourself inside his shirt, happy to have finally had the opportunity to touch him. Which villains are your best choice for snuggle up dates? This is your blockbuster/tv night list for next week!

There isn’t a woman alive who wants to see Denzel Washington as the bad guy. In Training Day, he plays bad cop Alonso Harris. The intensity of his role ensures constant arm grabbing and a much needed rescue after the movie is over!

To this day, whenever The Terminator Aires, popcorn bowls fly and men and women sit frozen together in silence as the beloved Arnold Schwarzenegger hunts down Sarah Conner. No one sleeps alone or with the lights out after watching this!

Okay, we remember Tom Cruise flipping bottles of liquor, dancing around in his underwear and that cocky smile of his… Does a woman like to see such a gorgeous man play the role of Vincent in the movie Collateral? A part of him takes out bad guys but you still need to hold a nice strong man’s hand through it.

Scorpius and John Crichton

Scorpius and John Crichton

If you’ve ever been a fan of the TV series Farscape then the name Scorpius, played by Wayne Pygram, sends shivers down your spine. The half Sebacean, half Scarran hunts the gorgeous John Crichton, played by Ben Browder, puts him the aurora chair (torture chair), injects a neural clone in his brain and kills anyone who gets in his way; or just because he feels like it. He is a villain with a purpose which makes him all the more dangerous to anyone he meets. Never doubt him or question him. For if you do, you’ll find him plotting your elimination. Grab your boyfriend, husband or date. You are going to need each other to get through an episode of Scorpius.

And, my favorite of all? The one that airs every Monday night. Yes, Hero’s villain Sylar played by Zachary Quinto. He is a newer actor without a past of happy go lucky movies/shows to remind you that he isn’t really the bad guy. Uh huh, the serial killer who at first you hate him for slicing brains in half so that he can take their ‘powers’ for himself but then love after you see him do small acts of kindness that seem out of his character and then hate him again when he betrays them after all. That’s right, Sylar is the face you see at night when you hear your clock tick-tick-ticking in the background. Roll over and stay close to the one you love and pray you don’t have a special ability that he desires.

True Cause of Salem Witch Hunts

Ropes tied around the necks of women, gentlemen pressed with heavy stones until dead… These headlines were common once.

"You are a witch!"

"You are a witch!"

In 1692: Salem, Massachusetts was in an uproar. Eight young girls in their district were having fits and hallucinating.  What was it? Disease?

No, witches…

That is what the girls claimed. Yes, the kids. Young girls began accusing men and women of trying to possess them. Judges ruled on assumption; facts were not necessary only outward gestures of sorcery.

So, what was it really? What had this down in dire straits? Why did an entire village of people turn on each other in all out paranoia/mania?

Some of it was politics, of course. Using the situation to their benefit but, what of the original fits and hallucinations that possessed the girls?

In 1676 Denis Dodart wrote to The French Royal Academy of Sciences. In his letter he mentioned Ergot.

Ergot comes from Rye. And guess what the eight girls ate and grew as a staple in their homes and for business? That’s right, RYE.

Their fits, hallucinations and paranoia resembled lysergic acid diethylamide or as we know it: LSD.

The girls simply ate bad rye; came down with ergot poisoning-which induced them just like a drug and from there, the adults took over reaping monetary benefits from all those executed!

Today, ergot is used in the following drugs: methylergometrine which helps constrict blood vessels in pregnant women and also it is used with those having abortions and ergotamine; helps those with acute migraines, has been known to induce childbirth and aids in the  prevention of postpartum hemorrhages.

Overdoses of these two drugs have similar effects on it’s patients as those of the Salem youth infected with ergotism.
