LM Preston on Writing Downtime…

A Guest Post by LM Preston…

When You’re Not Writing What Do You Do

I find the most inventive places to write. I write on my porch, in my car while on long trips, at my kids sports practices, on little pieces of paper – almost anywhere I can sneak it in.

But when I’m not writing, I’m just as busy. I do in person tours from April-October. I go to Balticon, Comic Con, Faerie Con, Writer’s Conferences, Book Festivals, Middle and High Schools, Libraries, books signings and other events. I also belong to a Critique group, am Vice President of Mid Atlantic Book Publishing Association and Recruiter for Editors & Lit Agents for the Maryland Writer’s Association. And if that doesn’t make you think I’m completely insane, I’m a wife and mom four who’s team mom, who takes my daughter to open mic, who goes to my son’s lacrosse games, who’s a movie addict that goes to the movies every Friday.A sufferer of Wanderlust who escapes on a mini-vacation every couple of months.

The Future Plans of Lindsey R. Sablowski

Guest Post by Lindsey R. Sablowski

First off I want to thank Tina for letting me stop by her blog! Secondly, a huge thank you to the mastermind behind this blog tour and talented author of The Pack-Retribution, Lm Preston.

I think a lot of us wonder about the future.  The future is an interesting thing to think about because after all it is unwritten and changes constantly.

I don’t want to talk about too far ahead in the future because I just can’t wrap my head around that thought, but instead I’ll talk about a coming future.

Where do I see myself in five years?

Five years from now I’d like to be finished with college, have my Bachelor’s, and be starting a family of my own.  I’ve always dreamed of getting married someday, and I’m still hoping for that special guy to be out there somewhere for me. Hopefully five years from now we’ll have found each other.  I’m a firm believer in love and hope… and it would be a dream come true to finally settle down.

As for my writing career, I have no idea if Cursed With Power will take off. However, I do know for a fact that I will still be writing.  Five years from now I might actually be done with the Magicians series, and if that’s the case I’d love to start writing something new.  My current interest would be historical fiction or perhaps an entirely fictional book (with no history in it at all), but years from now I might change my mind on that.  If I’m still writing the series, I really hope that readers are enjoying it.

And who knows… maybe writing will be my full-time job.  If not, though, I hope I’m teaching or editing (yeah I know, editing sounds crazy, but I like to do it) because writing isn’t something I want to keep all to myself… it’s something that should be shared in the world, and I would love nothing more than to share my journey with others and help them reach their dreams.

The Future Plans of Bryna Butler

Guest Post by YA Paranormal Author Bryna Butler

Thanks for having me on the blog today, Christina. I’d also like to give a special shout-out to L.M. Preston, author of The Pack-Retribution. L.M. is the genius behind this week’s whirlwind book tour.

I’ve been asked to update everyone on my future plans for the Midnight Guardian series and other projects. Books 1 through 3 in the series are now available in ebook and paperback at major online bookstores. Book 4, Shadows Rising, is due out later this Fall (tentatively Halloween).

I’m so excited about Shadows Rising. I think it’s the best in the series so far. Keira Ryan’s story continues as she learns more about the prophecy that stands between her and the fall of an ancient evil that is trying to bust through to our world. The shadow creatures, mentioned in Of Sun & Moon, Book 1, make their true debut in Shadows Rising. Here’s the teaser trailer.

I plan to wrap the series by the end of 2013 with a total of six books in all. With Book 4 near release, I feel like I’m saying goodbye already. *sniff, sniff*

But with every closed door, there’s a kitchen window that we completely forgot to shut when we finished with the dishes. My kitchen window is the Ice Wolves Trilogy. I’m currently researching and pre-writing this new project about feuding werewolf packs and the girl that walks the line between them. Set in the small Alaskan town of Eagle River, these novels are sure to be epic. Look for the first one, tentatively titled Werewolf Biology to hit stores in late 2013.

Thanks again to Christina for inviting me to the blog today. Be sure to check out her guest post on my blog, www.brynabutler.com.

Emma Michaels Talks “Mean”

Guest Post by Emma Michaels “The meanest character…”

In the ‘Society of Feathers’ series there is a character named Caleb. The first novel Owlet is being released October 13th and you see a bit of the fall out for things he has done in his lifetime but in the second book Eyrie, you really realize just how cruel a man he is and how he became that way. I would definitely say he is the meanest character I have written up to date but I also believe in creating realistic characters, so there is a reason behind all he does and there is a story to how he became the way he is. He isn’t simply evil, he is a man with a goal and he will do anything he needs to in order to reach that goal, no matter what the sacrifice.

The way that Caleb is mean is more of a cruelty fueled by his own twisted curiosity. He has a need to know how everything works and he doesn’t mind destroying something to see how it was put together and what made it tick. In Owlet we meet people whose lives have been affected by him, but not him just yet. In Eyrie you get to dive a bit deeper and not only hear about him but see it for yourself. He is one of the leaders of the Eyrie, which works as a sort of council, creating laws and upholding them for the safety of all those involved. On the opposite side of the spectrum is Nathaniel, another Eyrie member who is in many ways, Caleb’s truest enemy. Not because he wants to fight Caleb but because Nathaniel stands for everything that stands between Caleb and his end goals.

Owlet will be coming out this October 13th! Stop by www.EmmaMichaels.com to find out more about Caleb and Nathaniel and the young girl caught in the middle of something she never could have seen coming!

Thank you for having me on your blog, to everyone reading and to LM Preston for hosting this wonderful tour! Stop by her Facebook page on September 9th for a chance to join in the party for The Pack – Retribution!  It is going to be a blast!

I plan to use the photo (with lightning that she added in for me!) as the new cover for book one C I N. I will retire the present cover and release the new cover very soon.

Any who would like a digital copy/PDF of C I N with the new cover should contact me via Facebook privately or via this blog’s contact page.

Apex Reviews Official Interview

Official Apex Reviews Interview: Christina Pritchard (CIN)

Thanks for joining us for this interview, Christina. We’re looking forward to sharing more about your book with our readers.

What inspired you to pen this quite engaging tale of the challenges of young adulthood?
I had a dream actually. There were two teenagers (Alex & Ally), a sign that said C I N and lightning in the background. That was it. I was at work scribbling this dream down when Tony, my boss’ father came in and asked me what I was doing. I told him my dream and he automatically starts quoting “Lynn, Lynn, the city of sin. You never come out the way you went in.” This grabbed my interest and as he was telling me about the history of Lynn, my story began piecing itself together!!

How were you able to craft Lisa’s character in such vivid, lifelike fashion?

Well, I based Lisa on myself and youngest sister. We are very similar in personality but completely opposite at the same time. I thought that combining our two personalities would make a rather mixed up character ;o)

Are Alex and Ally meant to be as strange as they seem?

Yes, I thought about letting them gradually become weirder and weirder but, that’s been done so many times and I am a more ‘to the point’ kind of person.

The story gets quite a bit “steamy” in some parts. Were you at all apprehensive about exposing young readers to somewhat “mature” content?

It was much steamier originally. I cut a lot out. Initially, I didn’t plan to leave those scenes in at all, they were practice scenes so that I could learn to put passion and angst into a story – this was a suggestion [adding passion and angst into a novel] from Heather Baror, Literary Agent from Baror International, for another book I’ve written. I took everything she said to heart and decided to leave some of the ‘scenes’ in there especially after reading some of the books she suggested. It was a tough decision for me though.

What kinds of responses have you gotten to the book thus far?

So far, people have said that the book is hard to put down and has great potential for the big screen.  C I N even received an honorable mention in the Teenage Category from the Hollywood Book Festival this month! I’d really love to see this come to life on the big screen.

Also, one person did say I needed to flesh out some of my characters though which I plan to work on.

What’s the main message that you’d like readers to take away from the story?

I really think it is important for young adults to know that there is a place for them in this world. They have to make that place though. No one can do it for you.

What can readers look forward to in future installments of the CIN series?

More details about Pig and Rat, a love triangle they won’t be expecting, more in-depth stories of other characters and some things I can’t tell you yet! ;o)

How can our readers learn more about you and your ongoing efforts?

They can follow me on several sites:

My Official Blog – teeny120.wordpress.com
Facebook -facebook.com/teeny120
Myspace – myspace.com/teeny120
Social Network [work in progress] – http://teeny120.spruz.com/

How can they contact you directly?

I answer all my emails personally: clp120@ymail.com

Any final thoughts you’d like to share?

I am more interested in having my book read than anything else. So, for a limited time, I am offering my story C I N, free of charge (in PDF format only) to anyone who promises to write am honest review. Details on this deal can be found at: http://teeny120.spruz.com/ or my blog: https://teeny120.wordpress.com/

Thanks again, Christina, and best of continued success to you in all your endeavors!

Same to you!!

“I’ll Put On Some Tea…”

Fledgling: Jason SteedFledgling: Jason Steed by Mark A. Cooper

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jason Steed: Flegling is a book full of history, action, military combat and of course Karate. The book takes you through Jason’s first eleven years of life. He starts out in Hong Kong learning karate, jujitsu and tae kwon do (just to name a few).

Right away, you know there is something different about him. He is stuborn, loves carrot cake and sneaks into a military base at night to play on the flight simulator. This just the beginning though. From this, he ends up beating unthinkable odds.

Along with a little bit of English Royalty added in too!
I won’t give away anymore. This story is full of surprises and great moments that will linger in your mind well past the hours you should be sleeping. I actually woke up laughing yesterday morning thinking about the Barbershop scene.

I cried, I laughed, my heart beat a little faster than normal sometimes and I finally decided I liked his father when he let Jason make his own decision in the end.

This is an excellent book for anyone who likes European war stories, young adult novels and books filled with action and adventure. Plus, I see a series in the making. Over all, this is a book that can be easily enjoyed by someone as young as ten but as old as eighty.
